"Sean helped me lose 30lbs, become a stronger skier/snowboarder; all without touching one workout machine."

"He obliterated every fear I had within that first session about my concerns of feeling uncomfortable with a male personal trainer."

I started working with Sean in July of 2013. I had never had a personal trainer before and had a variety of preconceived notions as to what to expect. Upon meeting Sean I was greeted with authenticity and friendliness. He obliterated every fear I had within that first session about my concerns of feeling uncomfortable with a male personal trainer. Over the last year I have worked with Sean as I trained for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. In these training sessions Sean showcased his diversity of knowledge from nutrition, to creativity in workout regimens. I have remained injury free in the last year and have pushed my body and my mind in my training sessions with him. I LOVE that he has an unconventional approach to training that did not include one single dumbell over the last year. That’s right he showed me that with resistance training, kettle bells, TRX, bosu and circuit training that I could be stronger than I ever imagined. Sean remains my trainer for the next triathlon and is also a friend. Thank you Sean for always pushing me and to think outside of the box.

"I’ve been feeling better and better with each session, and he’s expanded the training to include TRX, battle ropes, stability and balance exercises"

Sean has helped me go towards my goal weight of 180 pounds (down from 301 pounds) after having gastric bypass surgery in February, 2015.  I met him at one of the monthly bariatric meetings at Rose Medical Center, and was impressed by his confidence, his knowledge, and his care and concern.
My admiration of his abilities has grown as I have been working with him twice a week for several months now.  He’s been ensuring I am being built-up in my core areas, while being careful and considerate about my age and exercise status (mostly none).  I’ve been feeling better and better with each session, and he’s expanded the training to include TRX, battle ropes, stability and balance exercises, as well as doing a good job of keeping me interested and talkative during the routine, which keeps it more enjoyable.
I work in the IT field, and have a lot of Apple devices, and Sean shares my interest in all that, as well as being an avid movie fan, so there’s always a lot of discussion going on during my sessions with him, which I appreciate and enjoy.

I never thought I would ever get a personal trainer, but, am very happy that I did decide to get one, and Sean was the absolute best choice!

I love training with Sean! He is so positive, motivating and makes working out FUN. Our sessions fly by and I truly feel like I am getting to take some much needed time for myself. Being a working mom with 2 small kids, finding time to exercise can be really hard. Training with Sean keeps me accountable and has helped me get into great shape, feel good about myself, and has given me more energy to keep up with my busy life.

I can't help but workout with Sean and be inspired. He is a great role model and inspiration to all. Another great benefit was being able to share sessions with my daughter. Sean personalized each session and made it fun. It wasn't a chore but a time I looked forward to. Sean puts his all into anything he does. That's why he is so successful.

As a BHFS employee who is trying to make better choices and healthy changes in what indisputably is a sedentary life behind a desk, the sessions I have had with Sean have been invaluable to me!

I had never worked out before I started using our fitness center.  I didn’t know how to use the weight equipment; and, I have some specific health challenges that make some workouts very difficult (or impossible) for me.  And, of course, 40+ years of literally hunching over a desk (and endless hours on the PC) have started taking a real, physical toll on me.  I needed a trainer with Sean’s expertise to take all those factors into consideration and create a workout routine to get me started and also ensure that I didn’t end up hurting myself since I had never worked out before.

Sean provided me a safe workout routine to help me with my goal of starting down the road to gain better fitness and, in particular, taught me stretches that have really helped my shoulders, neck and back issues resulting from the long hours spent at my desk and computer.  Sean’s analysis of my physical issues, what I can and cannot do and the workout routine he put together for me based on these factors has been invaluable to me.  My intent has always been to have intermittent sessions with Sean to change up my routine as my general fitness increases and I am able to do more.

I have worked with  many trainers over the years, consequently, have some perspective to share about Sean Sewell. He is dedicated to his craft, regularly taking classes and obtaining certifications so he can share new approaches and best practices with his clients. Sean is extreme focused on tailoring the workout to the person, in a fashion which exceeds most trainers with whom I have worked. He is supportive, attentive and kind. Sean's specialty is working with morbidly obese clients, a direct result of growing up in a household of parents and siblings with  severe weight challenges. It speaks volumes for Sean's versatility that Sean designs a workout for me and immediately follows it with a workout designed for my paralegal and assistant.

Sean crafted a series of workout routines for Tracey and I that focused on our current level and then progressed in difficulty over a 2 month period.  Because he provided descriptions of each new workout in email form, I have been able to use those workouts independently both at home and in the office gym.  His workout sets are easy and work the entire body, which is something I struggled with previously.  Also, he uses equipment that is relatively inexpensive, allowing me to purchase the equipment for use in my home.  An added bonus is that my kids now use the equipment and several of the workouts at home, helping with after school sports activities.  Sean’s services are a great investment!
