Functional training is for people who want strength they actually feel in the world — hauling a kid up a hill, getting out on the trail, and swinging a kettlebell without tweaking a shoulder. Expect mixed sessions of TRX, kettlebells, and bodyweight, programmed around what you're actually trying to do off the gym floor.
